Recently, the results of the preliminary contest of the 11th National College Student Mathematics Competition were officially announced, and students of our school achieved good results in the preliminary contest.
The Chinese Mathematics Competitions (CMC) is sponsored by the Chinese Mathematics Society. As a national high-level subject competition for undergraduates, the National Mathematics Competitions for Undergraduates provides young students with a way to demonstrate basic mathematics and mathematical thinking. The stage provides conditions for consolidating students' mathematical foundation, cultivating students' innovative thinking, and cultivating top-notch innovative talents. The competition is divided into two stages: preliminary and final. The preliminary competition of the 11th National College Student Mathematics Contest ended at the end of October 2019. A total of 170,787 students across the country signed up for the competition, and 3576 students from Jilin Province signed up for the competition.
The number of applicants in our school this year reached 1,113, an increase of 338 over last year, an increase of 44%. Among them, 125 people are in the mathematics group and 988 people are in the non-mathematics group. Due to the large number of applicants, the Provincial Organizing Committee specially approved the establishment of test centers in Jilin University. The organization of the competition received strong support from relevant school leaders and relevant departments. On the day of the competition, relevant leaders of the Academic Affairs Office and the School of Mathematics successively inspected the competition site. After the written examination, 9 students from our school won the first prizes, 14 students won the second prizes, and 25 students won the third prizes in the mathematics major group of the national preliminary competition; as well as 70 first prizes, 104 second prizes and 175 third prizes in the non-mathematics major group of the national preliminary competition. There were 23 first prizes and 73 second prizes from our school in the mathematics major group of the Jilin Province College Student Mathematics Competition; 174 first prizes and 432 second prizes in the non-mathematics major group of the Jilin Province College Student Mathematics Competition; as well as 9 outstanding teachers in Jilin Province. In addition, 7 students have got excellent grades and won the qualification for the national final held in Wuhan University in March 2020. They accounted for 44% of the finals in Jilin Province, an increase of 1 place over last year. The 7 students are Yan Cilin, Luo Changfan, Zhang Herui and Wang Zhichao in the non-mathematics major group, and Hou Di, Feng Yuchen and Zhu Yikun in the mathematics major group. Congratulations to these 7 students, and hope that they will achieve greater glory in the national finals in March 2020!
